May 6 is Bike to Work/School Day at Cal Poly Humboldt! Cyclists can stop by the Energizer Station between 7:30am - 9:30am that day for FREE coffee, juice, bagels, fruit, bike tune-ups, free u-locks with bike registration, and more! The Energizer Station will be set up outside the east entrance to SBS. And later that afternoon, join us for an all-abilities group bike ride! Anyone without a bike that wants to ride can use a bikeshare bike for free. 3:30-5pm, departs from the HGH bikeshare station.

This coming Monday, May 11, relax and unwind at the 4th End of Semester Kickback, hosted by the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, in collaboration with Academic Personnel Services, Human Resources, and Equity Arcata. All are welcome! This semester's emcees are Agustin Valdez (DMSI Coordinator) and Elias Pence (Q Center Coordinator). WHEN: Monday, May 11, 2026, 12-1 PM. WHERE: Kate Buchanan Room, Gutswurrak Student Activities Center.

Due to state fire marshal requirements, the use of sternos and open flame devices are no longer permitted on campus for indoor spaces.   All caterers, including offsite caterers, cannot use sterno type products or open flame devices for heating hot food. For outside catered events, a State Fire Marshal permit is required for the use of sternos or open flame heating equipment. Our own campus catering, Humboldt Dining, has moved to alternate options for indoor heated catering. This includes heating packets as well as electric heaters.

As the semester winds down and we begin looking ahead to summer, May offers a natural moment to pause, reflect, and prepare for what comes next. Across campus, teams are closing out projects, supporting final milestones, and beginning to shift focus toward summer priorities. While this transition can feel busy, it also creates an opportunity to be intentional about how we wrap up our work and set ourselves—and each other—up for success.

Celebrate culture, community, and tradition at Cal Poly Humboldt’s Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Street Fair on Tuesday, May 5 from 2 – 6 p.m. at the University Quad. This vibrant campus event brings students and the community together for an afternoon of music, dance, and celebration. Enjoy live performances by Las Cafeteras at 4:30 p.m., along with Mariachi Mar Pacífico and Ballet Folklórico de Humboldt, showcasing rich cultural artistry and energy. 

The Forestry Club, El Centro Académico de Humboldt, and the Department of Forestry, Fire, and Rangeland Management invite you to a screening of A Thousand Pines, a documentary directed by Dr. Noam Osband and Sebastián Díaz.
