- Eighty Lumberjacks Named to the 2021-22 CCAA All-Academic TeamARCATA, Calif.---- Eighty Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjack student-athletes were named to the 2021-22 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Academic Team, as announced by the conference office this morning. These 80 students represent more than half of the students who participated in a CCAA sport this past year at Humboldt.
- Kinsey Laine Named First Ever Head Coach of Cal Poly Humboldt Women’s Triathlon ProgramCal Poly Humboldt Executive Director for Athletics and Campus Recreation Cooper Jones has announced the hiring of Kinsey Laine as the head coach of the Lumberjack Women’s Triathlon program. Laine will be the first head coach of the Jacks women’s triathlon team. She comes to Humboldt from Colorado Mesa University, where she has been the Head Triathlon and Assistant Swim Coach since January 2021.
- Cal Poly Humboldt’s Malia Seeley Named to 2022 Pocock Shells Division II Women’s Rowing All-America TeamCal Poly Humboldt’s Malia Seeley was named to the 2022 Pocock Shells Division II Women’s Rowing All-America Team, selected by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). “I am very proud of Malia (Seeley), said Cal Poly Humboldt head women’s rowing coach Matt Weise. “Malia is an excellent athlete and student and helps lead our team to the highest of standards. This honor is well deserved.” Seeley was selected to the Second Team and was one of nine rowers from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) that were named to the All-America Team.
- Eleven Jacks Named to the 2021-22 NFCA Scholar-Athlete TeamEleven members of the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks’ Softball Team, under the direction of head coach Shelli Sarchett, were named to the 2021-22 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athlete Team. These eleven are Aimee Alvarado, Morgan Brant, Katelyn Dendas, Megan Escobar, Megan Holt, Jordan Montgomery, Tessa Poirier, Alyssa Ramirez, Julia Rivera, Vanessa Saltos and Izzy Starr.
- Angela Spoja Named Head Volleyball Coach at Cal Poly HumboldtCal Poly Humboldt Executive Director for Athletics and Campus Recreation Cooper Jones has announced the hiring of Angela Spoja as the head volleyball coach at Cal Poly Humboldt. Spoja comes to Humboldt from Eastern Washington University where she was the Interim Head Coach during the Spring 2022 season. Spoja has over 25 years of coaching experience in the community college, NAIA and NCAA Division I levels.
- Another Top 10 National Ranking for Jacks RowingARCATA, Calif.--- The Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks finished the 2022 season ranked seventh in the Pocock/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) NCAA Division II National Rankings.
- 28 Jacks Named to the 2021-22 CCAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll TeamsARCATA, Calif.--- Twenty-eight members of the Cal Poly Humboldt men’s basketball, men’s track and field, softball, women’s basketball and women’s track and field teams were named to the 2021-22 CCAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll. CCAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll distinction is given to student-athletes who are a sophomore in academic standing with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3.
- Cal Poly Humboldt’s Micaela Harris Named to NFCA Top 50 Watch ListCal Poly Humboldt’s Micaela Harris has been named to the 2022 Schutt Sports/NFCA II Player and Pitcher of the Year Top 30 list. Harris is one of 50 student-athletes that have been selected as finalists for this prestigious honor. The winners will be announced following the conclusion of the 2022 season.
- Cal Poly Humboldt Women’s Crew Moves Up to Seventh in This Week’s Pocock/CRCA Coaches’ PollARCATA, Calif.--- The Cal Poly Humboldt women’s crew team is moved up one spot to seventh in this week’s 2022 NCAA Division II Pocock CRCA Preseason Coaches’ Poll. This is the third straight week that the Lumberjacks have been ranked in the top eight in the nation.
- Cal Poly Humboldt’s Joy Hano Named CCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the WeekCal Poly Humboldt women’s track and field student-athlete Joy Hano was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office this morning. Hano received this honor after her performance this Saturday at the Humboldt Invitational that was held in the Redwood Bowl on the campus of Cal Poly Humboldt.
