Monthly Listening Circles for Faculty and Staff, starting Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 11am - 12pm
Dear Faculty and Staff,
RSVP here for the monthly listening circle for faculty and staff.
When: Starting Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 11 am - 12 pm
Where: In person at the Library Fishbowl, Library 209, and virtually via this Zoom link.
In partnership with Human Resources, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Academic Personnel Services (APS), and Staff Council, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) will host monthly listening circles for faculty and staff on the first Thursday of each month, from 11 am to 12 pm throughout the academic year, which started on September 5th. The listening circles offer both in-person and virtually.
The purpose of these monthly listening circles is to create a consistent forum where faculty and staff can engage in open dialogue, deep listening, and constructive rapport. Each voice will be respected and valued. The timing of the sessions, from 11 am - 12 pm, is intended to embed this opportunity into the workday, symbolizing institutional support for employee participation and well-being. Facilitators from our partnering organizations will guide the conversations.
If you would like to participate, RSVP here and join us for the third listening circle of the academic year in person at the Library Fishbowl, Library 209, or virtually using the Zoom link provided above.
The session will begin with a full group introduction to the purpose of the listening circles and the establishment of community agreements for engagement. We will then break out into smaller groups for more focused discussion and reconvene at the end for a brief full-group engagement, where additional sharing can occur. Please note that no notes will be taken, and the sessions will not be recorded.
Important: This space is intended for discussing personal experiences and the campus social climate. Please remember that all employees and facilitators have a "Duty to Report" experiences of harassment and sexualized violence.
To help us plan accordingly, please RSVP using this Google Form.
We look forward to your participation.
Best regards,
Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI)
