October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, with the theme “Empowering You to Secure 2025 and Beyond.” Throughout the month, Cal Poly Humboldt will spotlight practical steps you can take to strengthen digital security—protecting accounts with MFA and passkeys, keeping devices updated, practicing phishing awareness, and managing your digital footprint. By participating, you’ll not only grow your cybersecurity knowledge but also have a chance to win one of 10 free coffees!
Faculty and staff will receive a weekly message with highlights of upcoming challenges, training resources, and CSU-wide events that support both personal and university data security. This week’s lineup includes:
A Whole Lotta BS (Behavioral Science) – Oct. 2, 1:00 PM | Lisa Plaggemeyer (via Sheryll Del Rosario)
Mandiant | Do You See Yourself in Cybersecurity? – Oct. 3, 9:30–10:30 AM | Juan Rios
CloudFlare | Anatomy of a DDoS Attack – Oct. 3, 10:00 AM | Mike Hirad
The first event begins this week—don’t miss it!
