9/19/2025 EMSS Division Communication
EMSS Team Members:
Happy Friday, EMSS team, and a special round of applause to our A Case of the Runs team members who fought valiantly yesterday in the kickball tournament! We didn’t emerge victorious, but our division showed up with spirit and care, and a number of our student assistants joined the fun too – plus we had some awesome signs. Thanks to all for showing up and showing out!
I want to share with you a few important updates from our division and the campus at large:
SOCIAL HOURS: FUTURE CALENDAR INVITES
Sometime this academic year, members of your department will receive a calendar invite to an EMSS Social Hour, and I wanted to share some insight into the intent for those. These are completely optional after-hours events that are an opportunity for members of our team to get together outside of the office. Myself and other division leaders will join various departments from EMSS – the Leads are working now to pick days/times that will allow those who don’t have as much of an opportunity to socialize across EMSS teams a chance to learn more about your colleagues. They’ll be held in various places throughout the community, and while we’ll have some appetizers ordered, attendees will be responsible for their own drinks or additional food. Hope to see you throughout the year!
NORTH COUNTRY FAIR
Planning to attend the North Country Fair this weekend on the Plaza in Arcata? Ride your bike there! Cal Poly Humboldt is hosting a free bike valet in the parking lot of The Campus Store on the Plaza.

ACCOLADES
Congratulations to Kaitlin O'Brien, our Campus Events Coordinator, on her 10 years at Cal Poly Humboldt! Kaitlin started with us as a Conference Coordinator back in 2015.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to EMSS Executive Assistant Natalie Raquel Acuña, the Office of Student Life, specifically Ravin Craig, Marylisa Wood, and Angelina Ramirez Peirano, as well as Noel DiBenedetto from the Dean of Students office for all you did to make it possible for our division to participate with style in the College Colors Day Kickball tournament. Your exceptional coordination and unwavering support were key to the success of the event. We truly appreciate the time, effort, and dedication you all put into making this event memorable for everyone involved. Shout out also to everyone who stuck with A Case of the Runs - we didn’t quite flush out a victory, but next time we’ll be explosive on the field!
