Position Changes and New Hires
Let’s give a huge EMSS division welcome to our newest team members:
Grace Colman has joined ELITE Scholars, within ITEPP, as an ASC, and will be providing support for that program. Be sure to say hello to Grace when you can, and welcome her to the EMSS family!
Natalie Raquel Acuña is the new Executive Assistant to the VP for EMSS and Division Activities Coordinator, beginning May 1. She is not a stranger to Cal Poly Humboldt, as she began her career working for the Retention through Academic Mentoring Program as a Peer Mentor while simultaneously juggling working as an ISA within the English Department. She then moved on to become a Peer Advisor and Program Assistant to the Leadership Studies degree completion program within the College of Extended Education and Global Engagement. These positions led to her roles within the Human Resources Department as an ASA and ASC before transitioning to her most recent position with the Place-Based Learning Communities Office as the Assistant Coordinator. Acuña’s administrative and student support roles have prepared her to commit to the future prosperity of students, staff and faculty at large, while continuing to serve as an active participant in community development and engagement. I am excited to work alongside her to support our division.
Accolades
Ash Hansen has won the staff Sustainability Champion Award. This award honors Cal Poly Humboldt students, faculty and staff whose practices have deepened a culture of sustainability, have furthered the integration of sustainability into institutional practices and academics, and/or reduced our collective environmental footprint.
A special shout-out to Amanda Kachevas, GSAC Programming Coordinator, for keeping Cal Poly Humboldt's school spirit vibrant and thriving during these changing times. From the unique and beloved Wellness Nights series to standout events like Casino Night and the Wildflower Rave, Amanda continues to work towards elevating campus programming with creativity and purpose. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to our campus and students – it is a privilege to work alongside you for the betterment of Cal Poly Humboldt.
We are entering the home stretch of the semester, the time when there are more events than we can possibly attend individually, but a time of great celebration for our students. Thank you for all you do to provide them support, and to make their campus experience the best it can be.
Take care of yourselves and each other,
