You're Invited: Arcata Sanctuary in Solidarity Day – Saturday, August 23rd
As part of Cal Poly Humboldt’s Fall 2025 student orientation and in collaboration with Centro del Pueblo and Equity Arcata, which is a partnership between Cal Poly Humboldt and the City of Arcata, we invite you to join us on Saturday, August 23rd, for “Sanctuary in Solidarity Day.”
This full-day, all-ages celebration honors Arcata’s status as a Sanctuary City and affirms the values of respect, dignity, and human rights. We proudly celebrate that Arcata has officially designated a Sanctuary for 2Spirit, Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Intersex people, in addition to its existing Sanctuary status for undocumented members of our community.
The day recognizes our city and uplifts the work of leaders, artists, social movements, and everyday neighbors building peace and meaningful change.
This event is brought together by:
Centro del Pueblo, Equity Arcata, Black Humboldt, Queer Humboldt, First-5, HAPI, Humboldt Taiko, True North Organizing Network, Danza Mexica Azteca, Humboldt Musicians for Peace, Northcoast Growers Association, Playhouse Arts, and Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
✨Bonus for Students: Equity Arcata will be offering$10 Farmer’s Market vouchers to current Cal Poly Humboldt students with ID on a first-come, first-served basis. Stop by the Equity Arcata booth at the Plaza!
All students, staff, faculty, and families are welcome; this day is about community, solidarity, and joyful celebration.
