Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Faculty Affairs is responsible for all academic personnel functions. The AVP serves as a member of the Provost's administrative team to provide leadership for initiatives within the division of Academic Affairs, with a full understanding of the mission of the university and the role of Faculty Affairs within that mission.

Prompt for the Open Forum:

The candidate will provide a 15-20-minute presentation followed by a 20-minute Q&A session. Cal Poly Humboldt faces both opportunities and challenges as the CSU's newest polytechnic institution, balancing growth in new programs with current resource constraints. In this context, please prepare a focused 15-minute presentation on your vision for fostering effective partnerships between Faculty Affairs and the broader campus community. Address how you would build and maintain collaborative relationships with various stakeholders - including academic departments, faculty, department chairs, and other campus constituents - while supporting faculty recruitment, retention, and professional development. Include specific examples from your experience that demonstrate your approach to leadership and relationship-building in an academic environment, particularly during periods of institutional change.

Please plan to attend as your feedback is invaluable to this search process. Please complete this feedback form after meeting a candidate or attending their open forum.
