Google Drive Quotas - coming July 1, 2025
Dear Faculty and Staff,
In response to Google imposing data storage limitations on our campus, Cal Poly Humboldt is implementing updated storage quotas for all faculty, staff, and student accounts.
After collaboration with a variety of campus groups and advisory committees, ITS will be implementing the following quotas on July 1, 2025. The most notable aspect of this proposed quota system is that current faculty and staff will not be required to further reduce their Google storage usage.
New Storage Quotas – Faculty and Staff
Current Faculty & Staff using ≥150 GB
Quota: Retain existing quota
Can request increase: Yes – submit Help Desk ticket
Can purchase additional storage: Yes
Current Faculty & Staff using 40–149 GB
Quota: Retain existing quota
Can request increase: Yes – via account settings (up to 150 GB) or Help Desk ticket
Can purchase additional storage: Yes
Current Faculty & Staff using less than 40 GB
Quota: 50 GB (baseline)
Can request increase: Yes – via account settings (up to 150 GB) or Help Desk ticket
Can purchase additional storage: Yes
New Faculty & Staff
Quota: 50 GB (baseline)
Can request increase: Yes – via account settings (up to 150 GB) or Help Desk ticket
Can purchase additional storage: Yes
Shared Drive Quotas
Existing Shared Drives
Quota: Current usage + 10%
Can request increase: Yes – via Help Desk ticket
Can purchase additional storage: Yes – for Faculty and Staff
New Shared Drives
Quota: 5 GB (baseline)
Can request increase: Yes – via Help Desk ticket
Can purchase additional storage: Yes – for Faculty and Staff
