Open Forum in Library Fishbowl Candidate for Lieutenant at UPD Janelle Jackson June 26, 2025 10-11am
On behalf of UPD and the search committee for the Lieutenant, you are invited to attend the open forum Thursday, June 26th from 10-11am in the Library Fishbowl (Library 209) for the following candidate: Janelle Jackson.
The candidate will provide a 20-25 minute presentation to the campus describing their experience and qualifications for this position, and how they worked to build trust and collaboration with a diverse campus or community population. Following the presentation, questions and answers.
Bio
Janelle Jackson has been Interim Lieutenant at UPD since February 2024, Sergeant since 2015 and will have worked for UPD for 20 years this September. Jackson has been in law enforcement since 2000, previously and graduated from the College of the Redwoods Basic Academy in December 1999. Jackson is also a Team Leader and a Crisis/ Hostage Negotiator on the Humboldt County Crisis Negotiation Team since 2018. Jackson is currently in a Masters program in Licensed Clinical Counseling Program (LPCC) at California Southern University, Jackson also is a Sexual Assault Investigator, Active Shooter Instructor, Crisis De-escalation and Strategic Communication Instructor and 2023 Sherman Block Leadership Institute Graduate. Jackson currently serves as an Instructor / Recruit Training Officer at the College of Redwoods Public Safety Training Center, and as a Part-Time Deputy Sheriff with Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office since 2018.
