Slate Implementation Update – Enhancing Student Engagement at Cal Poly Humboldt
We’re excited to share an update on the Slate implementation at Cal Poly Humboldt! Slate is our new platform to enhance how we manage student interactions, from recruitment and admissions to advising and extended education.
What is Slate?
Slate is a flexible, higher education-focused platform that integrates with our existing systems, such as PeopleSoft, to streamline student engagement. It enables personalized advising, early alerts, and improved communication, ensuring a seamless experience for students, faculty, and staff.
Current Progress & Key Areas of Focus
Enrollment Management
We’re refining our approach to welcoming new students, making the admissions process more intuitive and student-friendly. Our focus is on:
- Ensuring accuracy
- Simplifying processes
- Keeping students connected every step of the way and supporting their connection to Humboldt
Advising Portal
A new centralized hub is being developed to enhance student-advisor interactions. This will include:
- Early alerts for students needing additional support
- Stronger communication tools for advisors and instructors
- Secure access to student data for a more holistic advising experience
Extended Education & Global Engagement
We’re improving systems to make course registration and payments more straightforward and user-friendly. Additional enhancements include:
- Better program and student records management
- Marketing tool for communication to the broader community
- Smarter use of data to improve student engagement and support

- Alert: Recent Phishing Attack Targeting Cal Poly Humboldt AccountsDear Cal Poly Humboldt Community, We’re reaching out to alert you about a recent phishing campaign that has directly impacted our campus community, including staff, faculty, and students. What Happened: Last night, a phishing email was sent from a compromised account at another university. The message directed recipients to a fake Google Site, which then led to a spoofed login page that closely mimicked our official Cal Poly Humboldt authentication portal.
