We’re back with another week of the “Secure Our World” initiative, and this time we’re tackling a big one: email and internet scams! These scams are sneaky, but with the right know-how, you can spot them before they catch you off guard.
Action: Check out the FDIC’s “Beware, It’s a Scam” guide and head over to the ITS Security page’s Don’t Be a Victim site to see the common scams we hear about on campus. Arm yourself with knowledge and keep those scammers at bay!

- Alert: Recent Phishing Attack Targeting Cal Poly Humboldt AccountsDear Cal Poly Humboldt Community, We’re reaching out to alert you about a recent phishing campaign that has directly impacted our campus community, including staff, faculty, and students. What Happened: Last night, a phishing email was sent from a compromised account at another university. The message directed recipients to a fake Google Site, which then led to a spoofed login page that closely mimicked our official Cal Poly Humboldt authentication portal.

- California Whistleblower Protection Act, 2025 Annual NotificationThe California State University (CSU) is required to inform its employees about the CWPA (CA Gov. Code §§8574 et. Seq.) by June 30, 2025. As part of this annual notice, Cal Poly Humboldt is required to display the CWPA poster in employee campus locations and provide an email notification with the attached brochure for your information.
- Applications for Emeritus Status for Tenured Faculty and Retired Lecturers, Staff, and Administrators Due Sept. 1Cal Poly Humboldt retired faculty, staff and administors seeking emeritus status should email their nominators “The Informational Template” by Aug. 15, 2025. “Nominations” for emeritus status for tenured faculty and retired lecturer, staff, and administrators are due to the University Senate office by September 1, 2025.
- Reminder: Housing, Dining & Health Project Construction FencingStarting on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 the contractor for the Housing, Dining & Health Project will erect construction fencing that will encompass the site so they can begin demolition work in this area. Access to this area will be restricted to necessary personnel only until work has been completed, which is currently scheduled for October 2025.
