This year's Great California ShakeOut drill is Thursday, Oct. 16, when millions of people worldwide will participate in earthquake drills at work, school, or home.

At 10:16 a.m. (local time) on 10/16, you can join millions of people across the world practicing earthquake safety. Remember to practice Drop, Cover, Hold to be ready for the next earthquake in our area. Since we live in earthquake country, it is not an if but a when the next one comes.

Intended to prepare us for the next earthquake, the Great California ShakeOut is conducted on the third Thursday of October every year. More information is available at rctwg.humboldt.edu/great-shakeout.

Important Updates: Salary Placement & Background Check Process
Dear Colleagues, We are writing to share two important updates regarding hiring practices at our campus: 1. Salary Placement Changes Affecting Classifications with Traditional Salary Ranges - UAPD (Unit 1), APC (Unit 4), Confidential (C99), and MPPs Only Campus will implement a new approach to salary placement for new hires. Rather than defaulting to the base of the salary range, placement will now be determined based on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, within the framework of established quartiles.
