2024 Election Dissection: What Happened?
5:00 to 6:30 PM, Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in BSS 162 Native Forum
Please join us, faculty from the Department of Politics and students from the Politics Club, at this timely event, in which we will discuss various aspects of the 2024 election. The main topics we will "dissect" include: who the people were in and of the presidential campaigns, who the voters were, how different forms of media impacted the election, what the substantive issues that mattered (or not) were, and how the election fared internationally. Did celebrities like Beyonce and Elon Musk affect the campaigns? Who really were the voters who voted for each candidate? Did the issue of abortion make a difference in the presidential election? How are global leaders responding to the election results? We won't have all the answers but armed with loads of data and evidence, we will certainly have a lively conversation about these complex and nuanced issues! We hope to use this event as a way to provide informed ways of breaking down this historic and most unusual election, and in turn, inspire Cal Poly Humboldt students, faculty, and students to find their own ways to meaningfully engage with politics at all levels.
