Join our FLC on Wellbeing-Informed Teaching!
Sent on behalf of Dr. Emily Magruder (CO) & Dr. Allison Vaughn (SDSU)
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to participate in a new system-wide professional learning initiative: the Faculty Learning Community (FLC) on Wellbeing-Informed Teaching, hosted on the OneHE platform.
This FLC builds on what we learned through MHFA and invites us to explore what wellbeing-informed teaching can look like in our own courses and programs. Our shared goal is to support the creation of learning communities—within courses and across campuses—where students and faculty can thrive and where the conditions for learning are intentionally cultivated and renewed.
Why this matters now
Across the CSU, we are navigating increased student need, ongoing change, and growing demands on our time and emotional labor. While MHFA has helped us develop shared awareness and language around mental health, many of us are now asking how to carry that awareness into everyday teaching practice. This learning community brings us together to move from awareness to application and to explore how course design, classroom practices, and collaboration with colleagues can foster learning environments that are rigorous, humane, and sustainable.
Participation does not include a stipend. As participants, you will have access to:
- A OneHE hub for CSU faculty who have completed MHFA, with curated, asynchronous learning pathways focused on wellbeing-informed teaching
- An online community space, facilitated by Allison Vaughn, professor of psychology and director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at San Diego State University, for exchanging ideas and reflecting with colleagues across the system
- Optional synchronous online gatherings to support connection and shared learning
- Opportunities to earn digital badges for learning pathways completed by June 15, 2026
Participation is intentionally flexible. You may engage with as many or as few learning pathways as fit your interests, time, and teaching context. Because this is the first iteration of the learning community, we especially welcome those who are interested not only in learning, but also in helping shape future versions of the project through feedback and reflection.
We aim to launch the FLC on Friday, February 20. If you are interested, please complete this form. Licenses are limited and will be distributed on a rolling basis.
We look forward to learning alongside you as we explore how wellbeing-informed teaching can strengthen learning, belonging, and sustainability across the CSU.
