Reorganization of World Languages & Cultures and International Studies and Philosophy Departments

The departments of World Languages & Cultures and International Studies and Philosophy have been reorganized by the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences into the Department of Applied Humanities. This merger is part of a strategic effort to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, support student enrollment and success, and ensure the sustainability of humanities programs amid ongoing budgetary and enrollment challenges. Applied Humanities shall exist as a new program in this new department.
Faculty and staff in these programs will be identified as assigned to the Department of Applied Humanities. This change will be implemented in Fall 2025.

Apply for assigned time funding for the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters, or summer salary for summer 2026. Note: if you need assistance finding funding, keep in mind that our office is closed between December 24th and January 1st.
