Undergraduate History Conference and keynote address, April 25-26
History Conference keynote speaker Dr. Jeff Crane will present his talk “Dam, Go Away!” on Friday, April 25, at 5 p.m. in Founders Hall 025. (Flyer attached.)
The Klamath River restoration is a project of mammoth proportions with great ecological, cultural, and economic potential. Prior to this effort, the removals of the Elwha River and Kennebec River dams established important successes and precedents in dam removal and river restoration that made restoring the Klamath possible. Dr. Jeff Crane will speak on the political strategies and impacts of dam removals drawn from the Elwha and Glines Canyon dams in Washington and Edwards Dam in Maine. Dr. Jeff Crane is an environmental historian and author of Finding the River: An Environmental History of the Elwha (2011).
On Saturday, April 26, students will present their research projects in Gist Hall 218 from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. For a copy of the conference program, contact the History Department at histdept@humboldt.edu.
These events are open to Cal Poly Humboldt students, faculty, staff and the community. Persons who wish to request disability related accommodations should contact the History Department at 707-826-3641 or histdept@humboldt.edu as soon as possible. Refreshments will be provided.
