Intro to Surfing

Off Campus Saturday, September 2, 2023, 10am – 3pm Introduction to Surfing! Have you ever been to the beach and looked out in the waves to see surfers and thought to yourself, "Man, I wanna learn how to do that!" Well, look no further, because we are offering Introduction to Surfing courses for the Fall 2023 semester.  This course offers students the opportunity to safely learn and enjoy the sport of surfing! Designed for the individual having little to no surfing experience, this course focuses on water safety, surf etiquette, ocean awareness, surfboard handling and technique. We will surf where the best conditions are for beginning surfers.  Program includes: High quality beginner on-shore instruction, on-water assistance from highly trained and qualified surf instructors, wetsuit, booties, and surfboard. Accessibility:  Transportation: Accessible transportation options available upon request with advanced notice.  Terrain: The parking lot at moonstone is uneven and unpaved. The trail to the river is uneven on sandy terrain.  Vessels: Surf boards are foam top and 8-11 feet.  Mobility: Surfing requires the ability to paddle laying flat on your stomach. Participants must know how to and be able to swim independently. Contact Center Activities prior to the event for accessibility-related accommodations.
